The San Juan IslandsView Larger Map The San Juan
Island archipelago is located in the northwest corner of Washington
State. San Juan Island is the largest island in the group of islands.
It is the county seat, and is the business and commerce center for the
Islands. The other three large islands are: Orcas, Lopez and Shaw.
San Juan Island's natural beauty, moderate maritime climate, and abundant wildlife make it a world-class destination for Killer whale-watchers, boaters, fishermen and tourists. Visitors to the San Juan Islands unanimously agree that it is one of the most friendly and beautiful places on Earth. San Juan Island is over twenty miles from the U.S. mainland (23.9 miles from Anacortes to Friday Harbor), and can only be accessed by Washington State ferry, plane, or by private boat. Once visitors have arrived on San Juan Island, and are ready to board our whale watching boat, "Soulmate", they can do so from the Port of Friday Harbor (see port map). Captain Carli's Whale Watching Tours depart from Slip# J-2 at the port of Friday Harbor.
